This Year's Model Updates:

The power rear hatch is now standard on all models, as is wood and leather trim for the shift knob and steering wheel. The power passenger seat is upgraded from four-way to eight-way while the optional navigation system gets Bluetooth capability and voice actuated control. Last year's standard six-disc CD changer moves to the options list, making way for a standard single-CD setup.

Pros:
  • Well-appointed interior, rides more like a sedan than an SUV, loaded with high-tech features, solid reputation for reliability, excellent dealer service.
Cons:
  • Less powerful than some of its competitors, soft ride makes for merely adequate handling in corners, no third-row seat option.

  • A van in SUV clothing - 2005 Lexus RX 330

The RX 330 is a great vehicle for running errands around town. It is extremely comfortable and its looks are eye-catching. Load carrying capacity is limited by the sharply angled rear door. It doesnt hold as much as you would expect for an SUV. On the highway, it handles like a mini- van. The car-based construction makes for a too soft, underpowered ride. With cruise control on, the engine constantly downshifts at the slightest rise in the road, such as going over a bridge. Definitely needs stiffer suspension and more power.

We love our new 2005 rx 330. It is a great car and is the best driving car that we have ever had. We love the Lexus navigation system in the car, although it does not have all of the destinations that should not be hard to find in it. It is a very comfortable car and i would suggest one for anyone! The cargo door can be opened with the push of a button on your key and that is a great feature.

  • The "Perfect" Vehicle - 2005 Lexus RX 330

In searching for the "perfect" car I found at that their was no such thing. However, I feel that the RX330 came as close to perfection as one could get. The RX330 has beautiful lines, decent power, good fuel economy, and an interior that one could live in. The RX330 doesnt have the sporty ride of my "perfect" vehicle, yet it makes up in other areas. Being my first luxury car I can not say enough about the interior of a Lexus. The leather is soft and beautiful, the maple trim is very classey, and the navigation system w/rearview camera is awsome. The interior space complements my 63" frame and gives plenty of room for an average size adult in the back.

  • Not that great! - 2005 Lexus RX 330

The issues with my car: the rear door wouldnt open with the remote, the roof rack wouldnt move back and forth, the leather under the head rest was torn, the wiper mist was not working. They dont charge me for fixing these issues. But my understanding is that some of these issues are not supposed to be issues because they are supposed to get inspected before they certify it. So I guess you can not really believe the Lexus certification process. Also the rear door issue seems to be a recurring issue. It still wouldnt open some times after 3 attempts to fix this.

  • Enjoying it Even More than anticipated - 2005 Lexus RX 330

Really comfy car; nice all-around; nice mixture of everything. Just noticing the hesitation everyone is talking about but doesnt seem like a HUGE deal to me. I have the black and chromed the 18s and it looks a lot more sporty--not so "grocery getter" like. Front seat a little short? Wish the base stereo was a little nicer (ML didnt sound much better when I listened--at least not for the money). A sub would be nice. Some body roll in turns, but nothing thats bothersome. I came from a Sport Trac, so that might have to do with it. The headlights do seem to cut off, but they are nice. AFS seems cool--but not sure if its really ground-breaking in usefulness. Like it more than anticipated.

  • My car - 2005 Lexus RX 330

The Lexus RX330 is my second suv. I drove a Lexus RX 300 for several years and found it most satisfactory. The RX 330 performs beautifully, is absolutely reliable, and is ergonomically the best car for me. The size is right; I can do some off-road driving; it performs well during rainy weather; the backup camera, and the navigation system make my driving so much easier. I find loading and unloading this vehicle is easy on my back.

Love to drive, love the design, had problems w/ tires & radiator, so many features in the cargo/ truck area, like first aid kit. You dont close the trunk it automatically does it for you. The sound sytems is great. The leather is very soft. Overall, it was the best car I ever bought in my lifetime.

and so far I LOVE this car. Granted its my first lexus ever... I feel like im doomed to buy lexus forever now. I really like the smooth ride, the fit and finish of the interior is very nice, and its surprisingly quite roomy inside. There are some minor complaints - inflexible option packages (not too many stand alone options), couldnt get the price lower than the msrp, where are the running boards?, where are the coin holders? Trash tray? And someone already mentioned this - this car is waaaaay too common. Mines the 4th in my cul-de-sac of 9 houses.

  • Transmission guy is wrong - 2005 Lexus RX 330
    By -

One of the consumer reviews I read on Edmunds site knocked the RX 330 transmission as sluggishly shifting. I bought one last month and found there was no problem with mine. The car is a complete joy and we are delighted with our purchase. I am mystified by the transmission comment. I also like the way the side mirrors adjust downward when in reverse, again opposite to another persons comment. Different strokes, I guess. I was disappointed to find that not all options described were readily available at the dealership, such as the adjustable headlights and the laser cruise control. I was told, "They build them all the same except for the Nav and entertainment systems."

  • Always a Safe Bet! - 2005 Lexus RX 330

My new RX330 is just as I thought it would be. This is my 3rd RX SUV since they first came out. I have never been disappointed. The new model has more pick up. Always a dependable vehicle, "Always a Safe Bet"! You cant go wrong with this SUV. I will always stay with a Lexus. Other makes just cant compete!
